I loved the first half of this book. I found the world building so interesting and story haunting, but I wasn't a fan of how it progressed or the ending.
I totally see the ties to the Juniper tree and it's done in a really cool way that allows the story to still have a lot of unexpected twists and turns despite being a retelling, but I feel like the contrast between the first and second parts of the book were too much.
This was an incredibly dark and gruesome story, which I'm okay with, but it felt to me like a lot of parts were written for shock value. I still think this book is worth reading, but definitely research trigger warnings.
