Damsels Be Damned by Autumn Peercy
4.0

With its unique spin on traditional fantasy tropes and an ensemble cast of well-developed characters, Percy offers an engaging and refreshing take on the genre.

What sets Damsels be Damned apart is its nuanced exploration of societal issues. Percy incorporates relevant themes such as power dynamics, discrimination, and social inequality into the narrative, adding depth and relevance to the story.

While the novel excels in many areas, there are a few areas that could benefit from further development. The pacing, particularly in the middle section of the book, occasionally feels uneven. Some chapters seem to rush through crucial plot points, while others linger too long on less significant details. Tightening the pacing would enhance the overall reading experience and maintain the suspense that drives the story forward.

Additionally, a few secondary characters could benefit from more fleshed-out backstories. While the main characters are well-developed, some of the supporting cast could be further explored to provide a deeper understanding of their motivations and actions. This would add an extra layer of complexity to the narrative, making the world feel even more vibrant and interconnected.
