rickjones 's review for:
The Moth Keeper
by K. O'Neill
This is a gorgeous and moving graphic novel about a young person struggling to excel while dealing with trauma-based insecurity. Obviously, this is a heavy topic for a middle grade book, but O'Neill tells the story with precision and love. The illustrations are wonderfully done and perfectly convey both the emotion and beauty of Anya's unique desert world. This is a story for children to grow up with and reflect on while learning to value community in our often indivudalistic culture. It's also a gift to graphic novel lovers of every age. I have adored all of O'Neill's works and feel lucky to read another.
