“Thinking about history makes me wonder how I’ll fit into it one day, I guess. And you too. I kinda wish people still wrote like that. History, huh? Bet we could make some.”
This is going to be the worst review ever written cause I'm all wrapped up in my f e e ls .
This book tells the story of Alex Claremont-Diaz, First Son of the US, and Henry, Prince of Wales. After a diplomatic incident at a royal wedding, both of them are forced to fake a friendship to control the damage. BUT, they fall in love (or realize that they love each other) While President Claremont is campaigning for reelection, what kind of impact does that relationship might have on the campaign?
y'all.
this book was AMAZING. I loved absolutely everything about it: the characters, the plot, the growing, the writing style. I loved that I was able to see little parts of myself in so many of the characters: Alex's sass, Henry's determination, June's way of caring, Nora being unapologetic about herself. I loved that McQuiston made me care about characters we barely even see. I loved the growing of the characters, the way subjects are talked about with maturity and in a healthy way.
As someone who's confronted everyday with people's legacy (as a history major), this book really hir close to home. It made me question myself: Legacy, what is a legacy? in the words of Lin-Manuel Miranda. It made me think about the world, how I see it and what I want to make of it.
This book was everything I needed and more. I'm just kind of speechless and can't find the words to correctly describe how I feel about that book, because it feels like the beginning of the realization that this book is going to have a huge impact on my life.
