I think a younger me would have loved this book with its run on sentences, restrained love affair and liberal sensibilities. The more jaded, current me is no longer quite so sure and the subtle misogyny that belies Nadia's character is repulsive to be honest. She's at once a liberated woman but conceals herself in an abaya, an educated woman who pins her independence once she finds a lover playing into the role of a woman who just needs the right man to tame her. The lack of dialogue also makes the story more cumbersome than artistic or interesting. Highly overrated.
