Great and Precious Things
by Rebecca Yarros
I really liked that this book talked about hard issues, but in a way that was bittersweet. It also made you think of your own life and choices you might have to make one day.
Family is everything but what if something you did had a direct result in the death is a family member? What if the one place you vowed to not return to called you back because of family?
Cam comes back from war to a town he never wanted to step foot in again. All because of a phone call from his dad, currently suffering from early onset Alzheimer's. His dad has a plan for how how his life should end and the one brother who stuck around won't give him.
Cam also has to come back and face Willow, a girl he's always loved but who almost married his brother Sullivan-the brother who died in Afghanistan.
Cam made a lot of bad choices as a youth and the whole town feels such contempt for him. Except Willow. She knows the truth and who's to blame. It all comes out at the end and its intense.
This was an amazing book that made me laugh and cry.
