“I have always loved the feel of books, the way they give a literal weight to words and make of them a sacred object.”

Quick Summary
Natasha Trethewey tells the story of life, death and the aftermath of a trauma she never thought she would face. She explores how this shaped the artist she became.

Final Thoughts
This book, read  by the author, gives the story of how trauma shaped her as a person. Natasha talks about growing up as the child of an interracial that had its beginnings in the Deep South prior to the Loving vs. Virginia decision. Her story will make you sad, will make you angry and will break your heart.
