Where the Devil Says Goodnight
by K.A. Merikan
Forgive me father, for I have sinned?
Did I though?
This book had me in twists all throughout.
The complexity between who Adam is and who he wants to be are very different. When he is sent away to a place his mother fears he has no choice but to do as he was instructed to finally get to the place he wants to be in his faith.
Enter Emil who is the complete opposite of Adam in every way, especially to the church. People think he's a pariah on their village especially after everything he has been through in his life.
This one was a journey for sure and took me longer to grasp what exactly was happening but when it all clicked everything made sense.
Adam & Emils story is nothing I expected, but I liked the outcome. I got the cover of the book after reading their story and overall this was a great read.
The only thing that made this take me a bit longer was the almost third person POV, it made the story almost detached in a way instead of it being a POV directly from Adam or Emil to make it hit harder. This could also just be from my lack of reading third person POV but that's a me problem :)
