Milady
by Laura L. Sullivan
As someone who has never read The Three Musketeers, I had never heard of Milady de Winter. But when I saw the blurb and that she was a nemesis of them (the Musketeers show up throughout) in the Dumas novel, I had to read it!
This is her origin story. A simple country girl forced into a Covent by her father and misused by all sorts of men, she learns how to deceive and become a spy.
I really liked this book. It was interesting to see how good she was at what she did. She also did some really awful things though and didn't seem to feel to much remorse for some of it. I really liked her friendship with Connie.
