The Raven King by Nora Sakavic

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

He was their family. They were his. They were worth every cut and bruise and scream.

I’m not sure I have anything intelligent to say about book 2 either, lol. It is absolutely packed full of different relationships in this dysfunctional found family and they are all slowly changing and evolving. It’s a lot to keep track of but somehow very clever and subtle.

The entire story is hard to pin down and even more difficult to really explain how I feel about it. I’m very much enjoying it though. It just pulls you in and won’t let go. I need to continue with book 3 asap.

It almost feels like fantasy, but it’s contemporary. It’s just got this entirely different thing about it that makes it feel ‘other’. Definitely YA though, with the ‘required’ horribly dark themes and moments, lol. I would definitely check out the content warnings.

As he listened to them, Neil realized he was happy. It was such an unexpected and unfamiliar feeling he lost track of the conversation for a minute.

He withdrew completely, leaving just the memory of his heartbeat against Neil’s mouth, and spun away.
