Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side
by Beth Fantaskey
This book was really good! I read the whole thing in one day, I just did not want to stop reading. That is how much I enjoyed it! I thought it was funny and interesting and riveting and all the things I want my books to be like.
I liked how strong Jessica was. She was stubborn and spunky and pretty awesome, if you ask me. Then we get to Lucius. Hmm where do I start with him? He bugged me...a lot at the start of the story. He was arrogant and rude and pretentious. Then as I was reading further into the story, he grew on me. He started to change, he was less arrogant and more understanding and maybe even a little charming. I really loved that Jessica seemed to be having such a positive effect on him. And I loved reading his letters to his uncle. It made him much more likeable and relate-able to me.
Then, poof! He grew distant again, and we were right back at square one. He infuriated me. I understand that there was a reason for why he was behaving like he was, but he could have done a better job. Found a different way. It was just like Edward in the second twilight book. He was that kind of infuriating. And then there were also some other things that he did with a certain someone from school that drove me insane! I thought he was the biggest jerk ever! Even though he behaved awful towards the end of the book, I loved this story! I cannot wait to read the next one. I was rooting for them to get together so badly! That is how much I liked Jessica. It was such a well written and well developed story that I was so absorbed into it. I devoured it so quickly, and loved it!
