The Last Move
by Mary Burton
Quick synopsis: FBI Agent Kate Hayden is called in to investigate a possible copycat murder in her hometown of San Antonio. She is paired up with a new-to-town homicide detective, Theo Mazur. After a second body is found with similarities to a different case, Kate realizes this is personal and far more dangerous than she thought.
Thoughts: I was disappointed. This is categorized as a mystery/thriller, but it wasn’t. You know the killer early in the story, and there is no big twist or reveal. There was one slight twist, but it wasn’t jaw-dropping. Everything was very predictable, even the little romance, and it wrapped up in a neat little bow.
