3.75 Super engaging and fast paced story. It is told in two different time periods, and focuses on a woman named Malorie. The first is four years in the the past, when a new epidemic emerges that causes people to fall into a fit of hysteria and violence that will eventually end in suicide. Malorie, during this point is with a group of people who live in one house all take care of each other and are trying to figure out this new world. The second, is 'present' when Malorie along with two children are attempting to make a trip down the river in hopes of finding a safe house.

I really loved how this story was written. Malerman was able to write a very thorough and well thought-out story within less than 300 pages. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves the paranormal and thriller genres.
