Ruth Ware is hit or miss for me so I never really have any expectations when I read one of her books because it could be a five star or a two star. I didn’t even read the synopsis, I just went in blind and I’m so glad to say this one worked pretty well for me. I listened to this one (thank you @simon.audio and @gallerybooks 💙) and I think that was a good choice because most times I feel like the authors books are a bit long and audio just makes them better for me. Plus it’s narrated by Imogen Church and she is incredible! The setting was perfect for a summer thriller, a remote island in Indonesia where a group of couples has gathered to film a reality show. There are quite a few characters to keep track of but this just added to the tension with so many different personalities trying to survive in dire conditions. I thought the twists were solid and pretty surprising and the diary entries were such a fun addition to the format. Overall this felt more like the authors earlier books to me which are some of my faves
