karlabrandenburg 's review for:
One Night in Drake Mansion
by Channing Whitaker
This book is well-plotted. I enjoyed going along for the ride and the debunking of the haunted house. I would loosely compare it to The Haunting of Hill House (except there were actually ghosts in that one).
So why only 3 stars? Well, the storytelling is at times disjointed, and at times difficult to follow. There were several times I wasn't sure who was talking, and as much as I appreciated the backstory, I struggled with the way it was introduced (and in this regard, I would compare it to Anne Rice and Lasher. A story within a story.
Would I recommend it? Yeah. At the end of the day, it was a good read.
