Intense but good! The relationship between “Him” and “Her” is the focus of the play, and I think very well developed. They are flawed and complex, and it’s interesting to watch their momentum evolve around each other (very push & pull). For those looking for a solid 2-person play that’s intent on exploring character relations, this is a good show to look at.
Graphic: Sexual content, Violence, Xenophobia, Pregnancy
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship, Sexual violence, Toxic relationship, Antisemitism, War
Minor: Cursing, Suicide attempt
The play is set in 1938 as World War II is starting, so it informs a lot of the play’s plot and dialogue.
Quite a bit of sex talk and implied sex onstage, so not super under-18 friendly.
”Her”, who is 16, talks about how she has a boyfriend, who turns out to be her Latin teacher. She does not go into graphic detail.
Near the end of the play, “Him” repeatedly punches “Her” onstage. The following scene after, “Her” talks about a woman she knows who attempted suicide with a gun. Slightly graphic explanation, but only a few lines of the scenes.
