Truly Devious

My Rating : 4🌟
Ahhh.. Ummm... What the hell happened??
.
First of all, L O V E our main character Stevie. She is bold, passionate, not afraid to admit mistakes and a Sass. Plus the fact that she has anxiety just makes her more relatable. I personally feel that the author did a very good job portraying her. The writing style was good, and I really enjoyed the flow of events. Few scenes could have been avoided but being a series, it might play an important role in the upcoming books!
.
Second, as someone who grew up having Sherlock & Poirot as her first Loves, this was such an amazing read! The fact that Stevie is obsessed with solving crimes is like a cherry on top! Plus the friends she had! Especially Nate.. Such a bundle of joy.. And coming to David, I don't know how I feel about him, especially if he is going to be a love interest, I am not sure if I ship them.
.
With that out of the way, the first half of the book is just setting the environment, lot of mind voices and had a slow pacing. The second half was filled with so much facts, that I had to sit don and write few things down to organize my thoughts. It was not rushed, but it was loaded. (Does that makes sense?) AND OMG THE ENDING!!!! What the heck? And now we need to wait for months before you read the second book?? I don't approve.. I need the sequel right now!! And also the fact that this is a Mystery/Thriller trilogy is amazing!!
.
The characters did not have a solid backgrounds and development, so I am hoping to see some amazing character depth and development in the next book. If you are looking for a good YA thriller/Mystery series with good characters, room for lots of development, and Sherlock and Agatha Christie references, good writing, definitely check this book out!! This book definitely took me by surprise!
