The Secret
by Rhonda Byrne
I know that optimism has proven effects on the brain, and that positive thinking is not bad. I get it. I'm not a complete cynic, just mostly one.
But this book is awful. To tell people that they are responsible for fixing their relationships with others seems fine -- until a domestic abuse survivor is reading this. Saying fake it til you make it seems fine -- until you interview a woman who says she cured her own cancer by watching comedy movies every day for months.
This is just so grossly irresponsible it makes me sick.
