Academy Girls
by Nora Carroll
I received a ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. I liked this book but did not love it. The first half of the book was slow but the second half was much better. Jane is a divorced mother of a fifteen year old who is in a dire financial state after her former husband is arrested. To make ends meet, Jane accepts a position as an English teacher at her former boarding school. The book goes back in forth from present time to the past when Jane was a senior at the school. Jane's recollection of the past includes an obsession concerning the murder of a former headmaster, who they believed was killed by their English teacher. This book had a lot of potential but fell short on making this an exciting and suspenseful read. However, I do feel it was worth reading.
