Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera
4.0

Thank you to Celadon for a Netgalley of this upcoming release.

Lucy is returning to her small hometown where she is known for murdering her best friend 5 years ago. She was never charged, but that did not matter. Her grandmother convinces her to come home for her birthday while neglecting to mention that Ben, the man making a podcast about this murder, will be in town.

This starts the deep dive down the rabbit hole. Small town. Big secrets. Always when that is the setting. The book flips between podcast transcripts and "normal" chapters from Lucy's perspective. We slowly are brought to THE night in question.

I really enjoyed this book. Tintera, who apparently is primarily a YA writer, is making her adult debut, which did not disappoint. Like most small town books, everyone is the suspect, and while I had inklings of the killer reveal it did not let me down. This was really well written and I definitely recommend to thriller readers.

Spoiler:
Am I the only one who wishes it was Lucy?
