I have pledged as a teacher to learn more about people and cultures that are different than my own in order to learn about people and their experiences. Prior to reading this book, I did not know what Eid was. I think that's probably the case for many people who grow up in spaces where most people are the same. It's hard to learn about something when you don't even know that you have something to learn. However, I am an educator now, and I can help the students in my classroom learn more than I had the opportunity to. I will definitely be picking up a copy of this book for my classroom.
