Ship of Destiny
by Robin Hobb
Is this a five star read? Yep.
Do I also have conflicting feelings about the actual ending?
Also yes.
Ship of Destiny concludes the Liveship Traders trilogy with a bang, no doubt about that. There's twists, and turns, and the finale is pretty high on the epic scale. The plot itself is tied up quite nicely.
It's just that the way some of the character arcs ended up were just... not satisfying enough for me.
Mostly I'm talking about Wintrow, Althea and Keffria. Especially Althea felt weirdly sidelined and I wish we'd seen more of her.
On the other hand there's characters like Kennit, Malta and surprisingly, Selden. The latter two ended up being my favourites and I'm not complaining and the former might be one of the best villains I've read in fantasy.
This book is nine hundred pages long. It should have been longer!
