I woke up on Mother's Day with my kid and had a gleeful morning. After my family decided to give me some time alone with coffee and the bed to myself, I decided to pick this book up. I'm not sure if it was the perfect pick or the worst? But, I was rapt the whole way through. I'm sure my eyes bulged when some realizations came to the fore in the storytelling. Short and brutal. Almada is a master.

And it was reading this particular book from cover to cover that lifted me out of bed and made me seek out my kid for another hug.
