This book details the stories of 10+ serial k*illers in the country of Mexico where Clarkson says they thrive due to limited police communication and lack of motivation to investigate due to corruption. The first chapter starts in the 1930s and by the end of the book we are brought close to present day showing that this problem is longer lasting and wider spread than you might imagine.

One of the things I liked most about this book was that it did not pull punches when describing the various crimes committed. The author’s disclaimer basically said the book is telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so if you can’t handle that then put the book down.
I also found it interesting that the book had equal representation of both male and female criminals. In fact, it is suggested that there might be more female criminals who were dismissed or not considered as suspects due to the misogyny at the time of the crimes.

As a lover of Criminal Minds and similar shows, I really enjoyed this read. Some of the descriptions of crimes and abuse were hard to read but we were warned beforehand about the graphic nature of the writing. The only reason I took half a point off my review was for some minor grammatical issues. These were few and far between but they didn’t make the story any less terrifying or impactful.
