This book gives us some backstory about Cardan as a child and about him as a teen and young adult. I did not expect to like this book as much as I did as it was a short book full of short stories about Cardan's life, but it was really good and a fun, easy read. I definitely recommend that everyone who has read books 1 to 3 of this trilogy to now read this book!!

Quotes:

- “Remember, all you really get to control is yourself.”
- “So long as you’re begging, he doesn’t mind a bit.”
- “Cardan ought to have been the boy with the heart of stone in Aslog’s story, but somehow he had let his heart turn to glass.”
