Tokyo Ghoul, Vol. 2
by Sui Ishida
The death of the Ghouls starts something new.
After the events of last volume Kankei is trying to figure out what to do. He learns to balance his life as a ghoul and pretend to be human he must master that. He also learns what the Ghouls in this section of the city do to protect themselves and not have the government hunt them. This volume really focuses on the bigger world building parts and giving some in-look on how it all works. There's also a major death that helps build up character in new ways and give them a reason to fear or love them.
Good: The art is working out better now and the fights are looking cleaner. This volume also contains good plot advancements for the overall picture and really loving the investigation team Doves and how they work. A good villain to the ghouls. Also my girl is always kicking ass and has a great fight scene here.
Bad: It's a slower building chapter with lots of parts so it feels like Kankei doesn't grow much. I know this happens later (Due to watching the anime) but I can see people getting frustrated with his views on the world.
Overall another really great volume. My favorite part of Tokyo Ghoul has always been the world and it's interesting section break up and outlook on Ghouls and Humans and how different we are yet so alike. A 3.5 out of 5.
