At every turn,  Eleanor seems to make the wrong decision. She infantilizes her family members and holds them at an arm's length, all the while complaining about how lonely and misunderstood she is. It is incredibly realistic for a girl her age, but is entirely frustrating for the reader. Her family is, in a way, one note. They seem to either love or hate fully, and there are no grey areas with the main family. I think  that this choice makes the characters seem flat, especially with Eleanor's strange memory gaps. The plot really doesn't move along at all until over halfway into the read, which can make it hard to stick to. The story is decent, the characters are fun, I just think it needed a little more work.
