This was one of my favorite books as a kid. So I reread it 20 years later. And man oh man is the magic gone.

There’s a twist ending which, if you know it, makes it a slog to get through

the science is not scienc-ing. A character has a fever of 112? A character “opens his phone “? We can go to low orbit space like today without any training ? No. I know it’s supposed to be futuristic but girl I am too old for this book. If you are a small child and an imaginative one , go for it. Otherwise, there’s no replay value. There’s no character development. There’s no big picture message and very satisfying ending. The ending is fine. But can you believe this book was not written for 30 year olds living in 2025
