i loved the first book, so it was a bit of a disappointment that this one didn’t live up to it. i didn’t really see astrid and jordan’s chemistry, i found them quite tedious especially at the start. i’m not a fan of diy/landscaping stories, but i was really interested in what would happen to astrid after the first book. i’m glad she received good character development and reconciliation with her mother, but for some reason i feel like this was a watered down version of her despite this being her book. even in jordan’s perspective i don’t think astrid had enough agency, and her character came off a bit flat. i honestly don’t know if i’ll pick up the next book, iris isn’t really one of my favourite characters and the plot does not interest me at all.
