This book is written on the premise that 1. Cryptozoology is a bona fide field of science and 2. Cryptids exist.

As a sceptic who is fascinated by the stories and beliefs surrounding cryptids, I found this to be a mostly enjoyable read. The science and evidence mentioned do not support the existence of cryptids as much as Freeman claims, but I did appreciate that he included examples of cases where known animals were more likely the cause than unknown animals.

The book covers a wide range of cryptids, and despite the sometimes painful attempts at humour, I enjoyed it more than I expected to.
