The Mime Order
by Samantha Shannon
I don't know what to say. I liked it. But like the last one I didn't enjoy it. The best word to describe my feelings overall are its compelling. I was looking forward to the next book because that ending. Its so slow in the beginning even though it starts off literally where we left off at the end of The Bone Season. I feel the romance is more believable in this one. Still a slow burn but you can see it more. I liked learning more about the syndicate and seeing different clairvoyants in action. But all the terms and names are still confusing. I literally just have to ignore them. I know people by their real names or characteristics. Even physical descriptions are not sticking with me. Overall its still really grim and miserable.
My thoughts about how the only way any hope in their lives can be created isfor Paige to take over all the clairvoyants both the strong within the syndicate and those not and then overthrow and kick out the Rephaim off the planet then work on having better relationships with regular people is coming true. Quicker than I expected. But this was only two battles sort of.
I was not shocked by the very end. Jaxon caring so little about what happened with Paige, the Rephaim, and even how all over the place his top 7 crew members have been kind of made me suspect him over literally everything. I was not expecting him to have been close to Nashirah before and only coming back to her now though. But there's more to that story. I was surprised by the conspiracy with the Rag and Bone man. But there is more there too I feel. We now know a bit more about the Rephaim but nowhere near enough for me to not have a knee jerk aliens attacking feeling.
My thoughts about how the only way any hope in their lives can be created is
I was not shocked by the very end.
