I See London, I See France
by Sarah Mlynowski
If you're looking for a lighthearted, young-adult romance novel with plenty of European cities and cute boys, then this book is for you!
As a person who spent half a year in Europe, I can vouch for the accuracy of this book; it captures the excitement and trepidation of being abroad in a strange, beautiful city without having a clue of what you're doing. While at the same time, it deals with the confusion of love and heartbreak in a frustrating, but realistic, manner. It follows Sydney who is backpacking across Europe with her best friend, Leela-- who was just recently dumped by her boyfriend. Both girls have just finished their first year in college, and have no real plan for their 4 1/2 weeks abroad. Cue the drama, great food, and self-discovery.
This book is definitely in the same thread as Anna and the French Kiss, Love & Gelato, and To All the Boys I've Loved Before-- although a bit more grown up. There's copious amounts of alcohol and a fair amount of sex (including a whole thing at a sex club in Amsterdam), so I would probably suggest this book for a more mature or older young-adult reader. Like I said, if you're on the hunt for something fun with just enough fluff then give this book a shot.
