A Short History of Queer Women
by Kirsty Loehr
funny
informative
lighthearted
fast-paced
This was really fun to listen to. Some people might find the jokes and humor a little cringe but for me it was the right balance to break up all of the information and stories. I especially like that it was mostly in chronological order rather than jumping around, so you could see how views shifted over time, all while queer women have always existed. I also appreciated the way the author discussed the different waves of feminism, how each one builds on the other, and also the ways that queer women have been good allies and in solidarity with other groups as well as the ways they needed to be more inclusive. I think it was a really balanced telling of history, that didn't just portray every lesbian mentioned as a really good person, but people who had faults and failings like any human being.
