This book made me smile, laugh, groan and cry, and feel so many different emotions. It really struck a chord with me, how it felt so realistic and yet hopeful at the same time. I’m the type of person who worries a lot about the future, but not because I can’t control it but because I can’t even trust myself to be able to handle things. But damn, so many emotions in so little time. Nikola, you can write!

Yoon is really good at mixing feelings, I was in the middle of an emotional scene and someone would make a dumb joke. I loved reading this. At first I thought this would just be a cheesy, fluffy contemporary romance but it was more than that. Also, that ending! Wow. Very bittersweet. You can tell she’s the type of reader who hates unfinished stories, and although I can handle them I really appreciate it when it’s wrapped up nicely and in a way that fits the story. It also has elements of internalized racism (Charlie, Daniel's brother basically hates himself for having Korean heritage) and immigration issues. Another element I really enjoyed was the additional perspectives and telling us the future, so as to not leave us wondering what happened to the other people in the stories. Definitely made me feel sonder. Irene’s story was really touching, and same with the other security guard. Inspiring, even, to say that anyone can turn their life around. The element of fate was very unique, of course everyone wonders about the future but how they debated it was perfection.

Also can I say that I loved the pop culture refrences (The famous NYT article on 36 questions? I actually googled it recently, before reading this book. And dunkin donuts). That's probably what I enjoy the most about books in the contemporary genre.

Anyway, if you want an adorable, wish-worthy romance, tears, and an existential crisis, this is for you. It's a weird mix of inspiration and depression.
