This author knows how to tell a story like she is your best friend sitting next to you on the couch.

Family struggling to find themselves in a world where Ruthie has been missing for years. Did she run away, did someone take her? Is she alive under the disguise of a TV personality? This is what the book is about. We do get just enough of back story for each character to feel like we know them or could be them.

What would your life turn into when someone you love disappears?

Finished it in 1 read as I really needed to know what happened to her. Yes, there's cursing. But it's not overloaded. The mother/daughter relationships are strong and very believable, just as is the sister bond.

No spoilers to what happens in the end from me. Read the book.
