This book was so randomly fatphobic? I picked it up because I wanted to pass the time with an easy mystery and honestly I only finished it because I was stubborn. It felt like every few pages the author was reminding us that the protagonist, Ruth, was “overweight” or “fat” by her standards. She goes out of her way to write multiple times that Ruth is 175 lbs??? It pulled me out of the story so many times, there was one moment where Ruth gets in a police car and literally thinks to herself about how she always feels fat in cars. It never had anything to do with the story! Also some weird xenophobia going on. All and all I do not recommend this book and will never read another book by this author again. I only finished it because I like to be well informed in my hatred of books!
