I really enjoyed this concept. Going into this book, I wasn't sure what it was going to entail. We go through Maya's year of eighth grade where she is conducting an experiment by following this book her father picked up in a thrift store called Betty Cornell's Teen-age Popularity Guide.

This was executed very well in organization. I got to know about Maya's life, not just her experiment. The chapters were divided orderly while she went throughout each month and each chapter of Betty's book. I was never confused. I was also able to see what Maya was talking about through pictures she put in the right places.

I could relate to Maya in some ways that I was bullied in middle school & I wish I could've been more like her. She stood up for what she believed in. We could see her develop in just one school year. She dealt with a lot of emotions (as well as you the reader).

I really liked her relationship with Betty. It was so neat to see that part of her life/this book.

I really wish I had Maya for a role model growing up. I think she could be a role model for young girls.

Enjoyed this a lot & learned a lot! Highly recommend!
