bookbriefs 's review for:
The Dead Girls' Dance
by Rachel Caine
I really liked this book! I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one. I'm glad because I thought parts of the first book were kind of slow, and I was hoping this was just because it was the first book in the series and it needed to lay the groundwork so to speak. I am happy to report that this book did not have any slow spots for me. I sped right through the whole book in one sitting and I am itching to start reading the third book right now.
This book was much more my speed. Probably because I already knew the characters and could jump right into the action of the story. It also helped that I got to see some Claire and Shane action, which was awesome! We also got to meet some new vampires and of course there was drama surrounding Monica. This book had a lot more fighting and vampire action than the first one. This helped to keep it exciting.
I was not at all prepared for the surprise twist towards the end. It was definitely a shock for me! I can't wait to see how this twist is going to play into the next books. I'm sure it will cause some conflicts. Ok, now that I am really starting to like this series a lot, it's onto the next book!
I don't know why, but for some reason when I am reading and reviewing a series I can never think of too much to say for the middle books. I think it is partly because I have already formed and talked about my opinions of the character. But oh well, short reviews are good too.
