this just wasn't for me, but I see the value to others.
I'm not a big historical fiction person. I did like hearing the different perspectives of Asian immigrants. And I like how the story was circled back to the beginning. it was wrapped up well. it just felt slow for me. I didn't really connect strongly to any of the characters. I did think it was interesting. I felt that all my guesses in the direction it was going were always wrong and pivoting.
the writing was pretty.
it felt like momo did all of his relationship interactions wrong. his wife gave me awakening by kate chopin vibes. And the little girl didn't get as much time to shine.
