Ava enters the Miss Americana just to help out her friends, but ends up winning the whole thing without really meaning to. As part of her crown duties, she must go on a cross country road trip to promote the pangeant, but she has been receiving threats lately because of her win and rise to stardom, so she is assigned a bodyguard to protect her. I absolutely love Ava, because she is so much more than meets the eye and is not your typical beauty queen. She's down to earth, funny, caring, and is not superficial or just another dumb blonde. Jaime has been working for Five Star Security for a while now, but is reassigned to Ava until his regular client, Atlas Oaks, goes on tour again. Jaime reluctantly goes on this job, only to protect his contract and his retirement. If he does well, he will be that much closer to his retirement and won't have to worry anymore. However, Ava is not what he thinks she is and their chemistry is off the charts, irresistible to even a serious man like Jaime Wilde. This book was just such a good time and so much fun, from the banter, to the spice, to the mystery, to the road trip, to the drama. I loved every single thing about this book and I am so grateful I was able to receive an ARC of this perfect book!
