City of Thieves
by David Benioff
I initially had quite a cathartic reaction to this book and rated it 3 stars. However a couple of days later, I realised that I had been harsh based on the sorrow throughout the book.
It’s a sad but poignant story based around the Russian/ German. It has beautiful prose, and the characters, whether minor or not, became so real to me that I almost felt like I could feel their feelings.
Contains the brutality of war, often bringing me to tears, but I still think well worth the read.
