Where’s the hype for this book?? It’s a historical murder mystery with a majorly queer cast of lovable characters and a sapphic romance. Though it’s not action-heavy, it’s an ever-intriguing mystery that definitely deserves more hype. I loved Millie, Marion, Olive and Bennie. I loved the vibes of the book, and the way it kept me guessing until the very end. Although there were some slower spots, I was never bored. I would’ve liked a bit more from the ending, but it was still satisfying, and overall, I definitely recommend this book.

Graphic: Death, Homophobia, Forced institutionalization, Murder, Outing
Moderate: Misogyny, Racism, Violence, Police brutality, Alcohol
Outing, homophobia, and forced institutionalization all occurred prior to the story, when one of the main characters was outed to his family and then sent to an asylum to be “cured” of being gay. There’s some violence, but nothing severe. Alcohol is tagged because the main setting is a speakeasy. All other things tagged moderate are mentioned throughout to varying degrees.
