A book that I bought a decade ago, never got around to, gave away, and suddenly decided that I must read and checked out from the library. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did, but it’s got that Practical Magic vibe and quirky Southern setting that, when done correctly, make for a joyful reading experience. Fun characters, a mix of lighthearted and heavy moments, and a hefty sprinkling of magical realism. I’m glad that I checked out the sequel, too, because I’m already 100 pages in.
