Tragic Bonds
by J. Bree
adventurous
dark
fast-paced
I have to remove .25 from the rest of the series since the action takes place in Alaska in the height of summer and the nights are long and dark.
Even if it's along the BC border, the southernmost part of Alaska, it's just lazy writing to not incorporate the fact that the sun shines for nearly 24 hrs in the summer. Maybe twilight or dusk but not "it's still dark out, the sun hasn't risen yet"
The author lives in Australia so maybe does not understand the north well but not recognizing the land of the midnight sun breaks the suspension of belief.
Bottom line: if I was writing about the outback I'd make sure I did some research even if I thought my audience would get the gist of it.
