Polarity by Max Bemis
3.0

this isn't easy to review as the book isn't that easy to read.

first off, this is another book written by a musician, max bemis, and accompanied there's a small EP you can download for free if you buy the book (code in the back of the trade). I really like that kind of thing, it adds a new level of...understanding the emotions of the main character.

the whole book is about bipolarity and that makes it difficult in some aspects. I'm not bipolar so I can only try to imagine how that feels. Tim, the main character, is bipolar and somehow gains superpowers whenever he has manic or depressive phases. Moreoever, he is a painter/artist living in Brooklyn and although despising the hipster sphere he is part of, he enjoys this life and admiration he gets for his work. So, for me, he was kind of an condescending asshole, though I haved to admit, his rants and observations are quite funny. Of course, there's a woman he has a crush on and of course there's a conspiracy. The book is a continous up and down of interesting and boring. I get that Bemis did this to empower himself and others with bipolarity, but if you strip this story down, it's a bit generic. I really need to talk to bipolar people about what they think about it.
