The Upside of Unrequited
by Becky Albertalli
This was... beautiful. The amount of queer representation made me feel like I was reading Alice Oseman —which is a great thing, something I'll never ger tired of. Molly's journey with her anxiety and self-consciousness about her weight almost brought me to tears. She was certainly a character.
Though I have to say I didn't like how she was "crushing" with every guy she met, thinking every guy was cute. It was also very questionable how I thought Molly was asexual, but that might be just my opinion. There was a specific scene where it felt like Molly thought she was beautiful only after getting a boyfriend, like that was the thing that made her have value. I wish it could've been different.
