This was a book club book! I think I'd heard of it on social media somewhere but it's another that I wouldn't have picked up otherwise. Let's go, book club!

A very challenging read, though. Brutal topic with some horrific story beats. I found it tough to follow at times too. This may be because I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by a cast of actors for each character. While immersive, it wasn't an audiobook that you could listen to while doing other things, which I am always doing with audiobooks. I may have enjoyed this more physically but I couldn't get a copy from the library in time for our meeting. I had to listen on Spotify which is usually my last resort for audiobooks. If I had read it physically then I would have more easily followed the narrative.

That all to say, the characters here are vivid and beautiful and are put through oh my god so much.
