That end was CRAZY!!! I did not see that coming at all!! Why??!!? That broke my heart a little, and it made me love Everbound even more. I think it can be tricky when dealing with a series, getting each book to bring something new and worth adding, all the while keeping your readers engaged and on their toes so to say. It may even more difficult for a series like this, where the 2nd book had a lot to live up to after such a great 1st book. Well I can say I think Brodi Ashton killed it!! I liked Everneath, but I loved Everbound!
While the love between Nikki and Jack was still front and center, I loved that there was a lot more action in this book. It was really great to see a different side to Cole too, and get to learn a lot more about the Everlivings and the Everneath. I have to say both of those exceeded any expectations I had for them after the 1st book. What a fantastic world! And I really like the play in mythology too.
I know some will be a little disappointed to not see a lot of Jack in Everbound, but I really enjoyed all the growth in some of Nikki's other relationships. And don't worry, you get plenty of cutesy flashbacks about Jack and Nikki's past and how they got together. There were so many developments, I really don't even know which way is up anymore, especially after that ending!!! I was dumbfounded, I mean I had a few theories but I was pretty off, I really got blindsided by that. I just kept reading the last few pages, while chanting "No!No!Why?!No!". So it definitely ended on a pretty huge cliffhanger....but you know it really didn't bother me. I thought it was pretty fitting, and it certainly did it's job, because I will be getting my hands on the third book the minute it's released! If you read Everneath and enjoyed it, do yourself a favor and read this ASAP, because you are missing out!!
