Fractured Sky by Catherine Cowles
5.0

I have absolutely loved every single book in this series, and I was waiting with bated breath for Shiloh's story. I knew her story would be my favorite and I was not wrong. Shiloh was kind of the catalyst for everyone's stories in this series, so getting her own was really important and poignant, and we only got tidbits of her in other books. Then, we are introduced to Ramsey in another book, but even his appearance was brief and mysterious. Shiloh is the broken girl who was kidnapped when she was young, returned to her family, but never the same. I really love stories that feature this certain type of character because I always revel in seeing that person turn pain into beauty and find someone who loves them not in spite of, but because of their broken but beautiful parts. Ramsey Bishop is that person for Shiloh and I think the reason they worked so well was because they both had such hard pasts and such horrible things happen to them that no one wanted to come close to either of them and were scared off. But, they were never scared of each other and they just *got* each other, you know? They needed each other, they made each other better, and they made each other believe in good again. The healing that transpired with the horses but also with Aidan and Elliott was so heartbreaking at first, but a beautiful ending that I was so fitting for everyone involved. I'm a sucker for the small town, age gap, "I hate everyone but you", forced proximity, hurt/comfort, found family tropes and this book not only did them but did them well. The story is full of drama and suspense, but there was so much healing and redemption of of course, a beautiful love story. I just cannot express how much I loved this book!
