These Twisted Bonds is the last book in the These Hollow Vows duology by Lexi Ryan. It picks up straight after the ending of the last book with Abriella fleeing from Sebastian after being tricked into giving him the unseelie crown. She is then thrust into a war all whilst trying to figure out who should have the throne and which faerie prince she loves.
This duology heavily follows the fantasy-romance recipe. There is a love triangle with two faerie princes. One is light and typical good boy whilst the other is the dark, misunderstood bad boy, and the main character is the chosen one who will save both kingdoms. It reminded me of ACOTAR especially with Finn who reminded me of a certain High Lord of the Night Court.
This series should have been a trilogy. As a last book of a series this book had way too much world building and new characters introduced, that we should have spent more time with. The author spent so much time on the characters and the romances that the plot got pushed to one side. So much so that the final battle and resolution was way too short. It was as if the author had forgotten about it until the last minute and just slipped it in last minute.
I would give this book 3.5/5 stars. It’s pacing felt rushed and the author just forgot characters we were invested in from the first book
